There was a time when I would get out of bed each day, take a shower, and be halfway through my morning ritual before I was awake enough to know what day it was. Now, I get out of bed each day, wide awake, and wonder if there will be enough water for my shower, wonder if the electricity has been on long enough to heat that water, and wonder which of God’s glorious insects might be waiting for me on the other side of the shower curtain.

These are things I heard grownups say when I was a child.
I didn’t want that to be me in the future: living a life full of regret, disappointment, and doubt.
Instead, I decided to live a simple life so that I would have time, money, and energy for what’s most important to me.
A few years back, when we decided we would be moving to Kenya, I made a conscious decision to learn a bit about popular international sports. I delved into all sorts of new-to-me sports including Formula 1 Racing, Rugby, Cricket, and America’s Cup Sailing. And while I never quite figured out what a Boot Hill is (Cricket) or why a nautical mile is different from a statute mile, I did find one international sport I could latch onto.
